MJPRU and ICAR-NBFGR Sign MoU to Boost Academic and Research Collaboration

Bareilly: Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU), Bareilly, and the National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources (NBFGR), Lucknow—an institute under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)—signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) yesterday, marking the beginning of a strategic academic and research partnership.

The signing ceremony was attended by MJPRU Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.P. Singh, Dean Academics Prof. S.K. Pandey, Prof. Alok Srivastava, Dr. Abha Trivedi, and other dignitaries.

Key highlights of the MoU include:

  1. Recognition of NBFGR by MJPRU’s Faculty of Applied Science and Technology, enabling NBFGR scientists to serve as Ph.D. supervisors.

  2. Mandatory six-month coursework at NBFGR for MJPRU Ph.D. scholars, aligned with university curriculum.

  3. Access for MJPRU researchers to NBFGR labs and research facilities.

  4. Joint research initiatives in biotechnology, molecular genetics, bioinformatics, fish breeding technology, and aquatic ecosystem conservation.

  5. Collaboration in faculty development, lectures, training, and research publications.

In an exclusive interview with Lucknow Tribune, Prof. K.P. Singh hailed the MoU as “a milestone that will drive academic excellence and advanced research,” adding that the collaboration would offer students national-level research exposure and elevate the quality of fisheries science studies at MJPRU.

This MoU is expected to foster technical cooperation, knowledge exchange, and significant opportunities for students and researchers at both institutions.
